ancia E. Smith is an author, photographer, publisher, and

Executive Director of Cultivating Magazine, and its fellowship of content creators, The Cultivating Project. With 42 years of sobriety, Lancia has done extensive support counseling for the bereaved, trauma and abuse survivors, and recovering addict and alcoholics. She has gratefully served in executive management, church leadership, school boards, and art & faith organizations for over 35 years. Throughout her own recovery process, Lancia has been privileged to mentor and disciple individuals looking for ways to experience a whole and recovered life, rooted in Christ.

While enjoying a thriving 40+ year career as a professional photographer, editor, and graphic designer, Lancia also co-founded and co-owns an environmental consulting, engineering, and construction firm with her husband Peter in Colorado.

In this chapter of their life as empty-nesters, Lancia and Peter make their home in the Black Forest of Colorado Springs where they spend most of their “non-work” time restoring an old house to a happier condition and restoring the land it sits on to its potential beauty. They welcome a merry stream of guests to The Havens, cherish their resident wildlife, and keep company with 200 Ponderosa pine trees, several thousand books in their home library, and two beloved black cats. Lancia loves design; road trips; being read aloud to by Peter; epic soundtracks, beautifully bound books, gardens, photography, and the works of C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George MacDonald. She holds and maintains an abiding place in her heart for cultivators everywhere.
