Lancia, this did not land in my inbox a moment too soon. I sat in a hospital waiting room today with my husband trying to explain to him a new, and fiercely intensifying inner struggle — sometime English Language & Literature teacher turned homeschool mom, I have floundered and foundered since the graduation of my children and striven to return to the idea of vocation outside of Mom or co-op teacher. I had aspired to write as my life’s work, but now find myself bogged down and hitting a new low as I also deal with the inevitable fallout of the middle-aging process and season. I was truly scraping bottom when I opened my ipad this evening to gmail and saw this. The One who walks the stormy seas cast me a line of hope through you both and all the wonderful folk you referenced in the interview. Thank you. Denise Armstrong – jamaicadawnwings.wordpress.com
Denise, thank you so much for sharing this. Your words landed with life giving strength and hope for me at a critical moment last night, too. I started the Cultivating site “late” in life (50’s) and just as the site has gone through some dramatic changes, I too am going through transformations as a writer!
Isn’t God’s holy timing timing amazing? That post went out as an “accident” night before last while preparing the site for being migrated this week. I had saved it since it was first done, never feeling that the time had come for its release, and never understanding why. I believe that it was saved just to be released at this moment for you. And you wrote me not a minute too soon, also. This site for Cultivating is transforming into a new quarterly, online magazine next week, and will not be run in this format any more. Eleven years of learning and growing in this endeavor, it is time for my little caterpillar of a site to become a butterfly! I hope, Denise, you find the new Cultivating a point of joy and encouragement also and that you hold onto the courage the Lord gives you to write! It is not too late! You are right on time, friend. 🙂
